Dave Higgins Q3 2023 "Jack Hill" Employee of the Quarter

Mika is pleased to announce Dave Higgins as our newest winner of the “Jack Hill” Employee of the Quarter Award!  

Dave’s Path: 

Dave began his career as a painter with Mika Metal Fabricating in 2018. Due to Mika's philosophy of cross-training employees, Dave has run punch presses and performed assembly operations and silk screening during his time with our organization. When asked what he likes best about Mika and the people he works with, he said, “I found that any problem I may have I can find someone who is happy to help me solve it.” Mika operates based on five Core Values, Dave says if he had to pick one Core Value that speaks to him the most, it would be Greater Good. He chose this one because he said, “I take pride in my work and do the best I can on every job to make everyone happy.” 

Outside Mika: 

Turns out Dave's previous experience working in auto body repair prepared him well for being the powder coat paint operator he is today. He takes pride in his work and continually turns out excellent products daily for our organization. Over the past year, Dave has been challenged to paint quite a few new products taken on by Mika. He is proud to say (and we agree!) that he has been getting faster and more proficient at his craft.  

His outside interests and hobbies include taking long motorcycle rides on nice sunny days. Dave describes himself as a “quiet guy” and thinks his coworkers would say the same. 

Fun Fact: 

When we asked Dave what animal he believes most closely matches his personality, he said a dog. Specifically, his dog Ernie, who is loveable and never bothers him unless he needs something – but then he will let you know!  

Dave credits his wife Leona as his inspiration. In the 40 years they’ve been married, she never ceases to amaze with her “can do” attitude. Dave firmly believes she has rubbed off on him and gotten him on the same track. 

If time and money were no object, Dave would go to Hawaii and learn to surf.
